Data centers · Mission-critical backup power

Data center fuel delivery for generators that can’t fail.

Generator fueling sized to your runtime targets, top-offs after every test, fuel polishing that keeps stored diesel clean, and 24/7 emergency response when the utility goes down.

  • Scheduled fills after weekly or monthly generator tests
  • Fuel polishing for tanks from 50 to 50,000 gallons
  • R99 renewable diesel for facilities with carbon targets

Why it matters

Backup power is only as good as the fuel in the tank

A data center can spend years without a real outage, and then everything depends on the generators starting and running for as long as the utility is down. That makes fuel the one part of the power chain that has to be right on a day you didn’t choose.

The scale is large. It’s common to see generator tanks of 8,000 to 9,000 gallons each, with 20 to 30 generators on one campus. A transport load tops out at 7,500 gallons, so refilling a whole generator plant after a long outage is a multi-truck operation. That plan should exist before the outage, not during it.

Fuel quality is the quieter risk. Diesel that sits in storage picks up water from condensation, and biodiesel blends can degrade into sludge. Contaminated fuel clogs filters and precision injectors under load, which is exactly when you find out. Regular testing and fuel polishing keep stored diesel ready to run.

Diesel delivery to data center backup generators

What we prioritize

During regional outages, critical facilities like data centers are prioritized in emergency dispatch. Dispatch is staffed 24/7, 365 days a year, and a person answers.

What we support

Every part of the backup power plant

From individual sub-base tanks to bulk storage feeding a row of generators, and the testing program that keeps it all honest.

Backup generator systems

Facilities running 20 to 30 or more generators, each with its own large tank.

Bulk and day tanks

Central storage, belly tanks and day tanks, filled to the levels your runtime target requires.

Testing and load-bank runs

Weekly or monthly test runs burn fuel. Scheduled fills return tanks to full after each test.

Emergency power infrastructure

The generators and switchgear that carry the load when the UPS hands over during an outage.

Fuel quality programs

Sampling, testing and polishing for diesel that may sit for months between real starts.

Construction-phase equipment

Diesel for heavy equipment while new data halls and campuses are being built.

We serve enterprise, colocation, cloud, hyperscale and edge data centers. Building a new campus? See construction site fuel delivery.

How a data center fuel program runs

Three jobs running in parallel

Keeping tanks full, keeping fuel clean and being ready for the day the utility fails are different jobs. A good program covers all of them.

Test-run top-offs

Generators burn fuel every time they’re tested. Scheduled fills after each test window keep every tank at its required level.

Fuel quality maintenance

Periodic testing of stored diesel, with polishing when water or sludge shows up, before it reaches an injector.

Outage response plan

Agreed delivery sequence, truck count and site access for an extended outage, set up while the grid is still on.

Monitoring and records

Levels tracked across generators, with deliveries itemized by gallons, date and tank for audits and reporting.

Planning runtime? The generator fuel calculator estimates burn per hour and runtime per tank.

How it works

Getting a data center program in place

  1. Step 01

    Map the generator plant

Generator count, tank sizes, fill points, runtime targets and test schedule.

  2. Step 02

    Agree the program

Fill schedule, fuel quality checks and an outage response plan, priced up front.

  3. Step 03

    Access and windows

Security procedures and confirmed delivery windows set before the first truck arrives.

  4. Step 04

    Delivered and documented

Itemized records for every fill, with invoicing through ARIBA or COUPA if you use them.

FAQ

Data center fuel questions

How do you refuel a data center during an extended outage?

With a plan agreed in advance: which tanks get filled in what order, how many trucks that takes, and how they get on site. A single transport carries up to 7,500 gallons, so large generator plants need several. Dispatch is staffed 24/7, and critical facilities like data centers are prioritized in emergency dispatch.

How often should stored generator diesel be tested or polished?

Stored diesel should be tested periodically and polished when testing shows water, sludge or particulates. Tanks that see little turnover, or fuel with a biodiesel blend, deserve closer attention. We polish tanks from 50 to 50,000 gallons.

Can our generators run on R99 renewable diesel?

R99 is a drop-in replacement for petroleum diesel that needs no engine modifications, which is why data centers with carbon targets use it. Confirm with your generator manufacturer, then we can deliver it on the same schedule as conventional diesel.

Can you support our generator testing schedule?

Yes. We schedule fills around your weekly or monthly tests and load-bank runs so tanks return to their required level after each one.

Do you work with procurement portals?

Yes. We provide itemized invoices and connect to ARIBA and COUPA, so your team doesn’t have to re-key fuel deliveries.

Do you fuel data center construction sites?

Yes. We deliver diesel for heavy equipment during construction phases, and can move straight into a generator fueling program when the facility goes live.
