Diesel reefer fuel delivery that keeps the cold chain cold.
We fuel the refrigeration units on your trailers and containers where they're parked, so loads stay at temperature and drivers don't lose time at a fuel island. Reefers, tractors and DEF on the same visit.
- Off-road dyed diesel for reefer units, billed apart from road fuel
- Yard, drop-lot and overnight fueling on a schedule you set
- Flexible schedules and volumes, no minimum order

A reefer that runs dry is a rejected load
Refrigerated transport runs on temperature. If a reefer's fuel tank empties, the unit stops cooling, and food or pharmaceutical cargo can drift out of spec before anyone notices.
Managing reefer fuel yourself means drivers detouring to stations, someone walking the yard checking tank levels, and a gamble every time a loaded trailer sits over a weekend. Reefer fuel delivery takes that off your team. We keep the units full; you keep moving freight.
- Less downtime. A steady fuel supply keeps refrigerated trailers available and delivery schedules intact.
- Flexible service. Delivery schedules and volumes set around your fleet, not ours.
- Clean fuel. Fuel that keeps refrigeration units running efficiently.
- Safer yards. Less fuel stored and handled by your own staff means less risk.
What fuel does a reefer unit burn?
Most reefer units have a small diesel engine with its own fuel tank, separate from the tractor's. There's no special "reefer diesel" formula. It's ordinary ultra-low sulfur diesel, and the question that matters is whether it's dyed or clear.
Because the reefer engine powers refrigeration rather than moving the truck, federal rules allow tax-exempt off-road dyed diesel in a reefer unit that draws from its own separate tank. That's where most of the saving in reefer fuel delivery comes from.
Keep dyed fuel where it belongs
Dyed diesel can never go into the tractor's tank. Running it in a highway vehicle is a federal violation, and inspectors check.
The trouble spots are a shared fill point, or a reefer that draws from the truck's tank. If your units are set up that way, they need clear on-road diesel. Ask dispatch before the first delivery, not after an inspection.
Fueled where the trailers sit
Reefer fuel delivery means nobody manages a fuel supply for refrigerated units. We bring it to wherever your trailers are parked.
Overnight yard fueling
We wet-hose each reefer at your yard overnight or between shifts, so trailers leave full and drivers start the run without a station stop.
Staged and dropped trailers
Trailers parked at drop yards and staging areas, fueled where they sit, so a loaded reefer waiting for a tractor doesn't run down.
Warehouses & distribution sites
Reefers used as overflow cold storage, plus the backup generators protecting refrigerated inventory when the grid goes down.
Tractors and DEF on the same visit
While we're in the yard, we can fuel the tractors with clear diesel and top up DEF, all billed as separate line items on one invoice. See mobile fleet fueling and bulk DEF delivery.
Tanks on the trailer, and tanks in the yard
The delivery is only as good as the tank it goes into.
Reefer fuel tank installs and replacements
Damaged, leaking or undersized reefer tank? We can help you install or replace it with a durable tank that fits the unit, so your reefers hold the fuel they need to keep temperature.
On-site storage for your yard
Want your own staff to fuel reefers between deliveries? We rent double-walled tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with optional fuel management systems that log who drew fuel and into which unit. Tank rentals →

Reefer fuel delivery questions
What is reefer fuel?
Reefer fuel is the diesel that powers the refrigeration unit on a refrigerated trailer or container. It's standard ultra-low sulfur diesel, usually off-road dyed diesel when the unit has its own tank separate from the tractor's.
Can I use dyed diesel in my reefer unit?
Yes, when the reefer draws from its own separate tank, because the fuel powers refrigeration rather than moving the vehicle. Dyed diesel must never go into the tractor's tank. If your unit shares a fill point or draws from the truck's tank, use clear on-road diesel.
Do you fuel reefers at our yard overnight?
Yes. Most reefer programs run overnight or between shifts at your yard or terminal, so trailers leave full. We also fuel trailers at drop lots and staging areas.
Can you fuel the tractors on the same visit?
Yes. We deliver clear diesel for the tractors and DEF alongside reefer fuel, billed as separate line items on one invoice so your tax records stay clean.
How often do reefer units need fueling?
It depends on the unit, the setpoint, outside temperature and how long trailers sit. We build the delivery schedule from your fleet's actual usage and adjust it as the season changes.
Is there a minimum order for reefer fuel delivery?
No. Schedules and volumes are set to your needs, from a few units to a full yard.
Can you help install or replace reefer fuel tanks?
Yes, we can assist with installing or replacing reefer fuel tanks. Tell dispatch about the trailer and the unit and we'll work out what fits.
Do you fuel backup generators at cold storage facilities?
Yes. We deliver to standby generators that protect refrigerated inventory, on a scheduled program or in an emergency. Dispatch is staffed 24/7/365.
