If it drives on a public road, it burns clear diesel.
On-road diesel is chemically the same ultra-low sulfur diesel as off-road fuel. What changes is the tax and the dye. Clear diesel carries federal and state highway excise tax, and it's the only diesel a commercial vehicle can legally run on highways and public streets.
| Compare | On-road (clear) diesel | Off-road (dyed) diesel |
|---|---|---|
| Base fuel | ULSD #2, 15 ppm sulfur max, ASTM D975 | The same ULSD #2 spec |
| Color | Clear to pale straw | Red dye added as a tax marker |
| Highway tax | Federal and state excise tax included | Exempt for qualifying off-road use |
| Legal use | Every vehicle on public roads: tractors, box trucks, vans, buses, service fleets | Equipment that never runs on public roads: generators, construction and farm equipment |
| In the wrong tank | No issue. Clear diesel is legal in off-road equipment, you just pay the tax | IRS and state penalties if it's found in a highway vehicle |
Running a mixed fleet?
You don't need two suppliers. We deliver clear diesel and off-road dyed diesel on the same account, often on the same route, and bill them as separate line items so your tax records stay clean. The grey areas, like a pickup that hauls equipment on public roads or a service truck that also runs a hydraulic pump, are worth a call to dispatch before the first drop.

Pick your blend: B0 to B10, or custom
Our on-road diesel comes in several bio-blend options. Tell us what your engines, customer contracts or sustainability targets call for, and we load to match.
Straight petroleum ULSD. The choice when an OEM or warranty specifies it, or when fuel will sit in storage for a long time.
5% biodiesel content. The industry-standard blend that most diesel engines run on without a second thought.
10% biodiesel content, for fleets that want more renewable fuel in the tank and run engines approved for it.
Higher biodiesel blends are available on request. Tell dispatch the blend and volume and we'll confirm supply for your site.
Want to go further than a blend? R99 renewable diesel is a drop-in replacement for petroleum diesel, not a mix with it. Same engines, same tanks. Not sure which grade fits? Start with our guide to diesel fuel grades, or read how to prevent diesel gelling before winter.
Three ways to get clear diesel into your fleet
Most operations use more than one. Dispatch matches the method to your access, volume and how fast you burn fuel.
Storage tank refills
Above or below groundWe fill above-ground and underground storage tanks with accurate metering and careful handling. Tank wagons carry 20–4,400 gallons per drop. Transport loads go to 7,500 gallons for bulk storage.
Bulk fuel deliveryDirect-to-vehicle fueling
Wet hosingOur driver fuels each truck or machine where it's parked, usually overnight or before shift start. Every fill is logged by unit, so you get a fleet report instead of a stack of card receipts.
Mobile fleet fuelingMulti-site fuel management
2 cities or 20One account across every location: usage tracking, tank monitoring and centralized invoicing, with one dispatch line to call. You run the business. We keep the tanks full.
On-site fuel deliveryKnow where every gallon actually went.
Retail pumps and fuel cards make gallons easy to lose track of. Bringing fueling on site puts it back under your control.
- Fleet fueling reportsWet-hose fills are logged by vehicle, so you see consumption per unit and spot the outliers fast.
- Less exposure to card fraudWhen drivers stop fueling at retail stations, the most common route to fuel card abuse closes. See the comparison.
- Tank monitoringOn monitored tanks you see the level on your phone, and so do we. Refills follow real consumption, not a guess.
- Smart-pump rental tanksRent or buy tanks with smart pump systems that track fuel use and control which drivers can draw fuel.
- Automated billing and recordsDelivery records and invoices generated automatically, so the paperwork is organized before anyone asks for it.
Pricing you can check against the market
Diesel reprices every day, so a flat national price per gallon is a guess. We quote on OPIS-based or indexed pricing that adjusts with the market. When prices move, you can see why.
On-road diesel for fleets that can't wait at the pump
Trucking & freight logistics
Tractors and box trucks fueled at the yard or terminal, so drivers leave full and on time instead of detouring to a truck stop.
Logistics fuelingConstruction
Pickups, service trucks and haulers that run on public roads, fueled on site next to the dyed-diesel equipment.
Construction fuelingDisaster response
Same-day emergency fuel for response fleets when public stations are down or overrun.
Emergency fuel deliveryMilitary & government
Municipal, agency and base vehicle fleets fueled on schedule, or fast during an emergency deployment.
Government fuelingFood & beverage
Delivery fleets fueled overnight so routes start on schedule, with reefer fuel available on the same visit.
Food & beverage fuelingCommercial fleets
Vans, service trucks and buses on scheduled wet-hose routes, with fills logged unit by unit.
Fleet fuelingTalk to a fuel expert, not a sales rep.
The people who quote your diesel understand the whole fueling process, from the rack to the fill point. That shows up before the truck ever rolls.
Problems spotted before delivery day
Fill-point type, hose reach, gate access and tank location get confirmed up front, so the truck doesn't arrive and leave without delivering.
Equipment and schedule advice
We recommend tank sizes and fueling schedules that fit how your fleet actually burns fuel, not a generic route.
Help with tanks, pumps and equipment
Our team troubleshoots technical issues with tanks, pumps and fueling equipment instead of passing you to someone else.
Procurement know-how
Fuel management and procurement experience that helps us negotiate better rates on your behalf.
Same-day emergency options
When critical equipment needs fuel now, dispatch finds a truck. Someone answers at 3am, 365 days a year.
No contracts
Stay because the deliveries show up, not because you signed something. Scheduled or one-time, your choice.

On-road diesel delivery questions
What is on-road diesel?
On-road diesel is clear, highway-taxed ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD #2). It's also called clear diesel or highway diesel, and it's the fuel every diesel vehicle has to burn on public roads and streets.
What's the difference between on-road and off-road diesel?
The base fuel is the same. Off-road diesel is dyed red and sold without highway tax for equipment that never runs on public roads. On-road diesel stays clear and includes federal and state highway taxes.
Can I use on-road diesel in off-road equipment?
Yes. Clear diesel is legal in any diesel engine. You'll just pay highway tax you could otherwise avoid. If you run both kinds of equipment, we deliver both fuels on one account and bill them as separate line items.
Which bio-blends of on-road diesel do you offer?
B0 (no bio), standard B5 (5% biodiesel) and enhanced B10 (10% biodiesel). Higher biodiesel blends are available on request. For a fully renewable option, ask about R99 renewable diesel.
Is there a minimum order for on-road diesel delivery?
No. We deliver to a single small tank or a large fleet. Tank wagons carry 20 to 4,400 gallons per drop, and transport loads go up to 7,500 gallons.
Do you offer same-day or emergency on-road diesel delivery?
Yes. Same-day emergency delivery is available when critical equipment needs fuel. Dispatch is staffed 24/7/365. Call 800-720-4546 and you'll get a realistic delivery window from a person.
How is on-road diesel priced?
We offer OPIS-based and indexed pricing that adjusts with the market, so you can check our price against a published benchmark. No contracts are required, and you can pay by credit card, ACH or check.
Can you fuel our trucks overnight at the yard?
Yes. Our wet-hose service fuels each truck where it's parked, usually after hours, and logs every fill by vehicle for your fleet reports.
Do you deliver to multiple locations?
Yes. We deliver clear diesel nationwide and can run every location on one account with centralized invoicing, whether you operate in two cities or twenty.
Clear diesel, delivered where your fleet parks.
