Terminal 5, the Duwamish and a bomb cyclone in Seattle

Serving King County

Most of Seattle’s industrial land sits in one place. The Greater Duwamish Manufacturing/Industrial Center covers about 5,000 acres just south of downtown. The Puget Sound Regional Council calls it the Port of Seattle’s main marine shipping area. That means drayage trucks, yard tractors, cargo handlers, rail equipment and reefer trailers within a few miles of each other.

Terminal 5 sits on the West Seattle side of the West Waterway. Ships at two of its berths can plug into shore power. Its landside equipment and the trucks that serve it still run on diesel.

In Seattle, fuel routing comes down to water crossings. SDOT closed the West Seattle high-rise bridge from March 2020 to September 2022. Terminal 5 and the rest of the peninsula sit on the far side of those crossings. Delivery windows here need to account for bridges, not just distance.

Wind and long outages

Seattle’s winters are usually mild enough that gelling is not the main risk. Wind is. On November 19, 2024, a bomb cyclone knocked out power to more than 114,000 Seattle City Light customers at the peak. Full restoration took five days. Any site on a generator needed fuel for that whole stretch, not just the first night.

Mobile fueling or bulk delivery: which fits your Seattle site?

Three delivery formats. We’ll quote whichever fits your volume, site access and cost target.

Wet-Hose Fueling
Mobile fleet fueling
Overnight or day shift, fuel direct to each tank
A driver pulls into your yard after hours, fuels every truck or piece of equipment directly, logs each fill, and clears out before your crews arrive. No staff required on site.
Best for: Trucking fleets, delivery yards, rental fleets and service vehicles.
Tank Wagon Delivery
On-site tank fills
20 – 4,400 gallons per drop · same-day or scheduled
A smaller delivery truck fills your day tank, jobsite bulk tank or generator. The flexible option when volume varies or site access is tight.
Best for: Construction sites, generator refills, day tanks and smaller bulk storage.
Transport Load
Bulk transport delivery
Full transport loads to 7,500+ gallons · scheduled
Tractor-trailer delivery straight into large bulk storage. The lowest cost per gallon for high-volume buyers.
Best for: Data centers, large industrial sites, agriculture and rail yards.

Seattle fuel delivery questions, answered

Do you fuel equipment at Terminal 5, Harbor Island and the SODO yards?
Yes. Yard tractors, top-picks, reefers and drayage trucks on the Duwamish waterfront can be fueled where they park, with dyed off-road diesel for terminal equipment, clear on-road diesel for trucks and DEF for both.
Can you keep our generators running through a Puget Sound windstorm outage?
Yes. We schedule generator top-offs ahead of storm season and dispatch 24/7/365 during outages. In November 2024, more than 114,000 Seattle City Light customers lost power in a single night, and some were not restored until the following Sunday.
Do you deliver to construction sites inside Seattle city limits?
Yes. We fuel excavators, cranes, light towers and site generators directly, from 20 gallons per drop up to 4,400. If a site has no storage, ask about a fuel tank rental.
Do you deliver fuel 24/7 in Seattle?
Yes. FuelGo dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call 800-720-4546 any time, or request a quote online and a dispatcher replies within the hour.
What fuels can you deliver in Seattle?
Clear on-road diesel (ULSD #2), red-dyed off-road diesel, gasoline, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and R99 renewable diesel. Most customers combine two or more on the same delivery.

How much fuel can you deliver at once?

How much is diesel tax in Washington?
On-road (clear) diesel in Washington carries $0.8785 per gallon in combined federal and state taxes and fees, and off-road (dyed) diesel $0.0405 per gallon, as of October 5, 2026. Sales and local taxes are extra where they apply. Using dyed diesel on public roads is illegal. See diesel taxes by state →

Yes. Most customers start with a one-time delivery and move to a recurring schedule, so tanks, generators and fleets are topped up before they run low, without anyone having to call it in.
Do you rent fuel tanks?
Yes. We rent diesel and gasoline tanks from 119 to 17,000 gallons, with pumps, meters and hose fitted, and refills on a schedule. See our fuel tank rental page for sizes.
Do you have smaller trucks for tight sites?
